Honestly, I couldn't write a review about this book, Perawan Remaja Dalam Cengkeraman Militer by Pramoedya Ananta Toer because I did not finished it. I couldn't stand any longer to read this book just because it was underexpectation. I have thought that this book is under fiction genre, but I was wrong. This book was kind of Pramoedya's investigation about comfort women in early 1960.
In the Japanese colonial period, women from Indonesia taken away by Japan. They (these women) became comfort women for Japanese soldier. They had been forced to serve and entertain Japanese Soldier, without haveing a chance to come home yet let their family know Until now, Japanese did not confess about their undertaking, even just to ask an apologize to Indonesia (or the other country).
Pramoedya's investigation brought him to the fate of comfort women in Buru Island. He met these women in a pity situation, they did not want to go home, they have been outcasted and alienated. Pramoedya tell us about some of these women and the story behind them. Really touching and compassionating.
